I thought I was going to have a panic attack today while I was getting gas. I try to fill my tank when I get to half gone but I'm not that good at it because I hate going to the gas station. So, instead of filling it at half we wait until it gets past the "E". By "we" I mean Griff, Blake, and myself. Then we turn on the DTE thing and count it down to the wire. This morning we were on 6.
Anyway, as I was dropping Blake off at the babysitters, I said, "Hurry and I'll wait for you to go in" and he said in a panic, "NO! Just go I don't want you to waste your gas!"
I left work 35 minutes late and there was no way I would make it to the babysitters and back before I ran out. I go the gas station and there is one car filling up and one waiting at every pump.
I am patiently waiting my turn. Then the lady in front of me starts banging the crap out of her trunk. I was like what the.....? Then she starts doing the same thing to the hood. Then she walks to the hose thing the gas comes out of and starts shaking the crap out of it. I was praying she wouldn't hurt me. Then she goes to pay at the window with a credit card!!!!! Has she not seen the little thing on the pumps that says INSERT CARD? And to top it all off she left her car there while she went to pay.
Finally she leaves. I go to pay and swipe my card but I didn't say I didn't have a Fresh Value card so I thought the computer was going to have an aneurysm. Finally it takes my card and I'm watching the numbers go up. I didn't want the pump to stop at $75 and cut me off like it had in the past. I wait and wait and hallelujah it passes $75. Then I'm thinking to myself, "Why are you so thrilled you are spending more than $75 on stupid gas?!?" It stops suddenly at $86.17. What a relief. I can leave this dreaded place and go pick up the kids who were thrilled to see the number 254 on the DTE display.
